Partner companies

Two companies are involved in the SIMEV active network of operational partners. Michel Farcy, director of ACLAIRA, and Pierre Magnes, Development manager at FIRMUS France, are also members of the SIMEV’s council of monitoring and orientation strategy.

Aclaira is a company committed to providing technical solutions for producing safe drinking water based on ultrafiltration, microfiltration and reverse osmosis processes. On top of that, Aclaira and its partners install and operate safe drinking water distribution kiosks for local populations on site.

claira adventure began on June 6th, 2007 in Dakar, on the occasion of the “Water and Health” Symposium organized by UNESCO SIMEV chair. Discalced Carmelite Brother Luc-Marie cry for help: borehole water, containing too much fluoride in Kaolack region, caused fluorisis, crippling disease for the local community. Courfia Diawara from Cheikh Anta Diop University and Michel Farcy (then representing the Pall society, specialized in filtration technologies) took up Brother Luc-Marie’s challenge. It was the starting point of a 5 year development – between 2007 and 2012 – aiming to adapt the right membrane solution to local conditions, which resulted in installation of two permanent membrane units supplied by solar power at Ndiafatte in April 2012.

FIRMUS France steps in water treatment technologies, and more precisely membrane technologies (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, membrane electrolysis, bipolar membrane electrodialysis, dyalisis…).

BELECTRIC France (photovoltaic energy production and storage) and FIRMUS France (water treatment using Membrane Technology) decided in 2012 to work together on the implementation of a renewable energies-powered membrane station. Both companies were able to use the SIMEV chair network, which proposed to implant the pilot in Morocco. It was installed at the Al Annouar High School (Sidi Taibi-Kenitra) to provide drinking water and electricity to the establishment.
